Joseph Alessi (principal trombone of the New York Philharmonic) has written all the trombone text for this edition. With insight from two of the finest brass musicians in the world, this volume brings Arban's great work into the 21st century. Further, Arban contains those virtuoso theme and variations solos in the back of the book from which the highly regarded solos of Arthur Pryor, Gardell Simons and others are directly descended. He has performed with the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra and was a soloist with the San Francisco Symphony before continuing his musical training at Philadelphia’s Curtis Institute of Music.

Arban Method For Trombone And Baritone has been brought up to date to the 21st century, enhancing and expanding the complete Arban text, and addressing new skills and techniques developed up to current times. Organizing the more than 500 exercises of this method is extremely complex, so we have had to use different sources to try to group each type of exercise in the course that is usually taught, and thus be able to offer you the best possible information. Plus, and a BIG PLUS, this book is spiral bound which makes it WAY, WAY more easy to place it on your music stand and open to any page without needing bricks to hold pages open.By doing the same exercises in different keys and ranges, you also help make your sound more consistent in different registers, and help your intonation (the pitch should sound as good in B natural as it does in B flat, etc. I have, of course, heard many fine teachers and players say "Oh, I never use Arban's--it's so unmusical. Joseph Alessi (trombón principal de la Filarmónica de Nueva York) ha escrito todo el texto de trombón para esta edición.
