About this deal

The display curves more sharply at the corners than it did on the Honor 70, which can be an issue with some apps as it sometimes cuts off the odd icon or bit of information (although this was a rare occurrence, admittedly). What is impressive, though, is the screen-to-body ratio which sits at a massive 93.3% thanks to the incredibly minimal bezels that make the display feel almost completely end to end, particularly as it curves ever so slightly over the edges. The Pixel 7a only reaches 41% in 30 minutes with its 18W charging. It does offer wireless charging though, which is something you don't get on the Honor 90. Honor 90 review: Software I’ve spent the last few weeks using the Honor 90 as my main handset, and that time has thrown quite a few surprises my way, as well as a few let-downs. The question is, does the Honor 90 do just enough to stand out against its competitors? Here’s my verdict. Design and screen

Actual use may vary slightly due to Testing included = Everyday usage, web browsing, social media browsing, video streaming, gaming, photography a relative humidity of 45% - 80%, with the original charger and charging cable, starting from 3% of battery, may vary due to different factors such as network environment, usage scenarios and personal usage habits. Honor squeezes in loads of its own bewildering apps and service provisions (YOYO Suggestions will recommend you apps from Honor’s superfluous App Market, if you let it), while the third party preinstallations include Netflix, Facebook, TikTok and Booking.com, as well as a couple of lousy games. The Google Pixel 7a is one of the best camera phones around, despite its low price. It was always going to be a tough opponent for the Honor 90, so while the Honor phone's not triumphed here, it's done quite well just to be in the same conversation as Google’s superior shooter. Going against the grain and, in some instances, outdoing phones twice their price, the onslaught of midrange handsets continues to amaze. Honor is no newcomer in this space, but it is looking to cause quite a stir with its latest smartphone.

Video footage looks great in outdoor and indoor environments, and while the stabilisation is serviceable, I think it’s far from being the best out there, so you’d be better suited to pairing a smartphone gimbal with the Honor 90 than shooting content freehand. Performance individual differences in products, software versions, use conditions and environmental factors. Please The charging and battery data comes from the HONOR laboratory, tested in a temperature of 25℃, with dimming frequency is higher than 3125Hz. The phone is not medical equipment and is not available formaximum is only for 12GB+512GB version. Actual experience may vary depending on factors such as device Camera is supported only in HIGH-RES mode with AI algorithm. The actual photo resolution may be different The Honor 90 Lite’s piddly 5MP ultrawide isn’t a strong performer either, offering a washed-out approximation of the main sensor’s palette, with noticeably poor detail as you move out towards the edges of the frame. It also struggles with overexposure, blowing out highlights on a moderately sunny day. The final sensor in this nominal trio is a 2MP macro camera. Making a camera that’s supposed to highlight close-up detail with such a low resolution is rather counter-intuitive. Sure enough, this sensor struggles with detail, contrast and exposure, and as such is a total waste of time.

If you turn that percentage into milliamp hours drained, then the Honor has used more since it's got a bigger battery than the Pixel. But since it's also driving a much larger display at a much higher brightness, it's on balance the winner here. At 6.7 inches, this is a big phone for the price, too. The Pixel 7a is a petite 6.1 inches, while the Galaxy A54 is a slightly larger 6.4 inches. The Honor 90's a strong deal if you want a lot of screen real estate for the price. On the durability front, the Honor 90 uses what Honor describes as “deeply reinforced glass,” but this isn’t Gorilla Glass, so you’ll have to trust the company's word on that one. There’s no official dust and water resistance IP rating here, either, which puts the Honor 90 at an obvious disadvantage to comparable handsets from Samsung and Google. Perhaps the Honor algorithm is tuned for human subjects, which would explain the short depth of field — people's heads are not known for being particularly long. However pet photos are at least as important as those of people to the average smartphone photographer, so Honor could stand to improve this.
