Description

There are no other eye drops that contain both carmellose sodium and glycerol as the active ingredients. Optive eye drops provide soothing relief from the symptoms of dry eyes, such as soreness, irritation or a gritty sensation. These may be caused by your eye not producing enough tears to keep the eye moist, or by things such as certain medical conditions or treatments, prolonged use of computer screens (where you tend to blink less and thus not lubricate the eyes sufficiently), or drying atmospheric conditions such as air-conditioning, central heating or atmospheric pollution. Use one drop into the eye (or eyes) affected by dryness. Many people find it is sufficient to use the drops three or four times a day, but you can use the drops more frequently if your eyes are very dry. If the drops have been prescribed for you then follow the directions given by your doctor. This medicine should not be used if you are allergic to one or any of its ingredients. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have previously experienced such an allergy. The side effects listed above may not include all of the side effects reported by the medicine's manufacturer. For more information about any other possible risks associated with this medicine, please read the information provided with the medicine or consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Carmellose Sodium, Lactic Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Chloride, Potassium Chloride, Calcium Chloride, Sodium Edetate, Cetrimide, Sterile Water. The side effects listed above may not include all of the side effects reported by the medicine's manufacturer. The usual dose for adults and children is 1 drop into the affected eye(s), 4 times a day, or as needed. If you forget to use the drops at your 'usual' time, do not worry, just put them in when you remember. Do not 'double up' the number of drops you use to make up for forgetting to use them.

7. Cautions with other medicines

Carmize 1% Eye Drops contain an eye lubricant called Carmellose sodium. It is used for the treatment of the symptoms of dry eye (such as soreness, burning, irritation, or dryness) caused by your eye not producing enough tears to keep the eye wet or due to environmental factors.

Carmize (Carmellose Sodium) lubricant eye drops for lasting and soothing relief and protection against burning, irritation and discomfort due to ocular dryness or exposure to environmental factors. To avoid introducing germs into the eyes, don’t allow the open end of the single-dose container to touch your eye or anything else. Common: Eye irritation (including burning and discomfort), eye pain, eye pruritus, visual disturbance. These eye drops should not be used for more than six months after the bottle is first opened. This is because after this time they could be contaminated with dirt or germs that could cause eye infections. Write the date of opening on the bottle so you know when to throw them away. Dispose of them carefully, preferably by returning them to your pharmacy. Single-dose droppers should usually be used as soon as you open them. But you can reseal some brands and use them again up to 12 hours later, for example Carmize, Cellusan and Melophthal.

Slight irritation of the eye, stinging and redness may occasionally occur during use. In most cases this disappears after a few minutes. Please take care that the dropper doesn't touch your eye, your fingers, or any other surface. This could contaminate the drops left in the bottle.
