The recommission will see the show pass the 50th episode milestone, making it ITV's longest running sitcom since the 1990s. However, the family that have replaced them (I can't even remember their name as I type and certainly can't even be bothered looking it up) are absolutely appalling. The woman who plays the Mother is trying to be a Janice Garvey - but it just doesn't work. She simply comes over as a pretty poisonous individual without an ounce of tolerance or understanding. The husband could easily be replaced with a cardboard cut-out; the two children have contributed nothing - apart from the little girl's ridiculous American accent earlier in the series that probably wanted to make most of us scream louder than she did singing karaoke. The son is an utter borefest. The Grandfather (Bobby Nutt?) just about cuts the mustard and is a believable Benidorm character. Absent: Johnny Vegas as Geoff Maltby, Elsie Kelly as Noreen Maltby and Selina Griffiths as Pauline Maltby. Sherrie Hewson is best known to UK viewers for her soap opera roles in Coronation Street, Crossroads, and Emmerdale, but also for her role as a panellist on Loose Women from 2003 to 2017. Talking about the show's success, Saskia Schuster, ITV's Comedy Commissioner, says "We are absolutely thrilled our audience continues to enjoy the antics of the Solana staff and its holidaymakers. The new series of Benidorm will be introducing a brand new family to our viewers."

Kenneth DuBeq - larger than life character that, until this series, has possibly been one of the 'fans faves'. Brilliantly funny delivering cutting, insulting lines - and fits the Benidrom stereotype so convincingly. Cannot believe that more was not made from the inheritance plot from Uncle Herbert - and even sadder that a great actor such as Ken Morley, has not been used more frequently. Note: This episode features the debut of Doreen, played by Elsie Kelly who also plays Noreen in the series. Because there is one actress portraying two characters, Jane Hollington has joined the cast as a double for Noreen and Doreen. In 2006, Derren Litten pitched a new comedy that he had devised for ITV, focusing on an all-inclusive holiday resort, which was later confirmed to be titled Benidorm, and began airing on 1 February 2007. [3] After the first series concluded on 8 March 2007, ITV renewed it for a second series, which commenced in April 2008, with all the main characters returning for the eight-episode series. [4] As a result of the second series' finale being left on a cliff hanger, a special was broadcast on 31 May 2009, [5] [6] to expand the events that occurred in the final episode of series 2, before a third series began on 2 October that same year, in a new 45-minute episode format. [7]

Because this series just isn't funny. More to the point, it's become pretty unbearable. And despite the viewing numbers, to put these into perspective you really have to look at its slot on a Monday night; and fairly gauge it against the opposition. There really isn't anything, is there. Note: This is the only episode where Jacqueline Stewart is absent, making Mateo the only character from Series 1 to appear in this episode. Sheron is still angry with Eddie and refuses to have him sit with the family. The Solana has no qualified first aiders, but the first aid instructor cancels, so it is left to Mateo to run the course. Meanwhile, Amber catches the eye of Tiger and Joey, and Kenneth may be in line for a big inheritance following the death of Herbert, until Kenneth gets Herbert's Teeth while the money goes to Norman the Doorman. At Neptune bar, Geoff and Pauline have a round with Joyce and Joey almost strips naked for Amber, surprising Kenneth. Benidorm is a British sitcom written and created by Derren Litten and produced by Tiger Aspect for ITV that aired for ten series from 1 February 2007 until 2 May 2018. The series features an ensemble cast of holiday makers and staff at the Solana all-inclusive hotel in Benidorm, Spain over the course of a week each year.
