My Friend Dahmer is a 2012 graphic novel and memoir by artist John "Derf" Backderf about his teenage friendship with Jeffrey Dahmer, who later became a serial killer.Dahmer possessed above average intellect, was conventionally good looking, and usually had a calm demeanor that could disarm even the most paranoid of people. Schwartz gives a blow by blow account of how she came to be the first reporter to break the Dahmer story and the subsequent events, including the shameful behavior of some reporters as they scrambled to interview Jeffrey's parents. The parents of Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold were in the same dilemma – they suspected, they worried, they confronted, they accepted explanations they shouldn’t have, what could they do? Lionel, however, isn't happy with the "perfect storm" scenario, which is admittedly vague and non-specific.
