About this deal

I appreciate what Jimmy Carr was trying to do with this book but personally would have preferred the more traditional biography full of anecdotes and stories rather than how to improve your life. Now, picture a family gathering where I thought reading a few excerpts from the book would elevate the mood.

His last tour, 'Best of Ultimate Gold Greatest Hits', sold over half a million tickets globally with the current show, 'Terribly Funny', looking set to exceed that figure by the end of 2022. He was also the first UK comedian to sign a stand-up deal with streaming behemoth Netflix in 2015, releasing two specials on the platform, Funny Business (2016) and Best Of Ultimate Gold Greatest Hits (2018). In fact, the only thing that's been on a more extensive world tour in the last five years, is coronavirus.I'm now navigating the dating scene with the finesse of a stand-up comedian, all thanks to the comedic wisdom within these pages. This book brings together lots of strands of self improvement, growth and mindful productivity, all while encouraging people to enjoy the journey and do what fulfils them. We mess up more times than we succeed but if we don't learn from the failures that we make we haven't learnt anything at all but in the failures that we make that's where we learn. If laughter really was the best medicine, the NHS would be handing out this book in Nightingale Hospitals. uk/landing-page/quercus/quercus-company-information/">The data controller is Quercus Editions Ltd.

Overall, if you pick this book up, you are in for some guaranteed laughs and perhaps a few life lessons along the way. In this fun book, Jimmy Carr tells a few stories of his life, but intersperses it with all the self-help advice and wisdom he’s learnt along the way. It tells the story of Jimmy’s life – the transformation from white-collar corporate drone to fake-toothed donkey-laugh plastic-haired comedy mannequin – while also explaining how to turn your own life around and become the you you’ve always dreamt of being.Carr has an interesting perspective on life informed by the nature of his work, which involves more intense labour than you would expect. During a critical presentation, the book's witty prose triggered an unexpected burst of laughter, causing my boss to question my commitment to professionalism. It’s very rapid, the stories are short but funny (with the one exception of the one about his mum) and the lessons that he’s learnt along the way. When you're in your 20s all you ever do is think about what other people think about you, but when you're in your 40s you don't really care what they think about you and when you're in your 60s they don't you realise all along they weren't even thinking about you at all apparently attributed to Winston Churchill. If you were in your mid 20s in the late 1990s, living with your family, no bills/mortgage and in a well paid job - would you say it was relatively easy or difficult to give up said job to pursue your dreams?
