About this deal

Lis has an unfailing intuition that guides her decisions and that helped her and her best friend find a place to live in Baron Claude's household a few years ago. I find myself in my dimly lit study, sipping red wine, and immersing myself in the captivating fictional world she has created. I really liked her interactions with her prince, Thorne, as she learns more about him and his powers. Also, did I mention how undeniably sexy he is 👀❤️‍🔥 Calista, surely is something more than a simple intuitive spy. Lis has some special abilities that make her extremely useful to have around and she’s made a good life for herself and Grady.

Her dreams of becoming an author started in algebra class, where she spent most of her time writing short stories…. Sorry not sorry to disappoint people but these characters had no connection (in my option) past the smut.According to the author: "A FALL OF RUIN AND WRATH, an adult fantasy romance, is coming Fall 2023 from Tor Books. But a rebellion threatens the world as Lis knows it and she finds herself embroiled in something she never expected.

If you’ve read FBAA’s spin-off/prequel series you might get major Nyktos/Sera vibes like I did between Lis and the Prince. Introduced to the reader as an orphan, the lead female character, Calista (Lis), later ends up as a courtesan to Claude, the Baron of Archwood. Separated by vast wilderness teeming with monsters and unimaginable dangers, each city is now ruled by a guardian—royalty who feed on mortal pleasure. It was the first year I was eligible to attend, as one must be twenty-two years of age or married, which made little sense to me, but it was the Hyhborn and King Euros who made the rules, not me. I saw the story taking so much turns that it could've which it did not, save to say the last 100 pages were redeemable of this book, predictable nonetheless.

Fall of Ruin and Wrath is a captivating romantic fantasy from a mega bestselling author and global sensation. When her intuition leads her to save a travelling prince in dire trouble, the voice inside her blazes with warning – and promise. But when her intuition leads her to the mysterious Hyhborn prince, will he be her happiness or her downfall? The Baron of Archwood led, well, an unorthodox life compared to most mortals, but then again, Claude wasn’t just a mortal. Kat, Damon, Poppy, Casteel, Luc, Evie are all examples of characters that read the exact same with similar, if not the same, dynamics every time. And I know the Baron doesn’t like it when someone asks you to do this, but I swear he will never know. I can’t say that I loved or even really liked her FBAA series (even though I read many of the books, lol) but this does sound pretty interesting and your review is making me feel FOMO!

I had my own bed—an actual bed and not a pile of flat blankets or a mattress made of flea-infested straw—but I still couldn’t wrap my head around it.

Lis has no idea that Thorne is actually a prince – and one of the most powerful beings in the kingdom. Everything just flows in such an organic, descriptive way without spending 3 pages describing the interior of a room or what a freaking chair looks like. My reluctance had little to do with Claude, even though he didn’t like it when I used my foresight—my heightened intuition—for anyone but him. Said horniness will avoid the necessity of creating a personality for Thorne, maybe on the second book. Found family and friendships as a trope is a personal favourite and here, I find myself amongst yet another one that I couldn’t get enough of.
