Finally, the ATOTO A6 PF 7″ Android Head unit is compatible with over 1,000 apps from the Play Store. This includes media and entertainment apps and navigation ones for your car. Sometimes display may have some slight blur/pixelation when viewing specific icons in Android Auto. I was inspired by 100percentJake’s YouTube video on the ATOTO brand and specifically the F7. Simple and affordable wireless CarPlay was appealing, and I was in the market for a more modern infotainment setup in the Touring. I also liked that the F7 is linux based making it potentially more stable. When I opened the center console again to install the Dinavin frame, I made sure to locate and positively seat the solenoid connector. This was easy. A little too easy. Unlike any other electrical connector in the bimmer, this one was loose. It’s very easy to unseat it. For now I simply reseated it. If necessary I will safety wire it in the future.The USB wire attached cannot be removed from the head unit. This will make the installation quite a pain in some cases. In my car I needed to take the whole front plate off and push the wires out. And if that’s not enough, you can access hundreds of applications in the Google Play Store to further enhance your audio experience! Third, touchscreen responsiveness is key. A sluggish, laggy touchscreen can destroy the driving experience and make using all the features of your head unit a chore. The bass does not have its own slider. It needs to be changed directly from the EQ which makes it difficult for "normal" people.

The ATOTO A6 PF offers a large, 7-inch display that is highly impressive in terms of clarity and visibility. Thanks to its crystal clear resolution, the screen remains easy to see and read even in bright sunlight. Finally, many people like having a lot of extra features on their head units such as Wireless CarPlay/Auto, GPS navigation, HD radio, and other bells and whistles. I regrounded the Axxess unit to the chassis by drilling a hole in the dashboard metal frame and terminated the ground wire with a hook crimp terminal and a sheet metal screw.
I’m really happy with the ATOTO F7. CarPlay works quite well. Much better than fiddling with the phone while I’m driving. The touch screen is also highly responsive, making it simple to navigate through menus and access various features. The user-friendly interface only adds to the ease of use, making the ATOTO A6 PF a pleasure to operate.

B. After completing the radio set procedure, I assumed the new setting took effect, and I switched focus to the ATOTO software settings. There are only two choices here and the correct one is “Custom.” Then select “Key Settings” to assign functions to steering wheel buttons. To do this press and hold a function on the ATOTO screen until it is outlined in blue. Next press and hold the desired button on the wheel until it beeps and highlights in purple. Repeat until all desired buttons are mapped. Simple right? Pros- big vibrant screen, access iPhone apps through built in screen, very good sound quality, adjustable tilt, telescope, and elevation of screen to suit the needs of your dashboard setup. Axxess grounded to the radio harness. After I could not get the steering wheel controls to work I found in the troubleshooting section it specifically says to be sure the unit is grounded to the chassis. Moreover, this device has a built-in FM/AM Radio and the RDS system to ensure you can always listen to your favorite radio stations. With the ATOTO A6 PF, you can easily access your audio content. It also supports up to 2TB USB SSD for music and videos, making it one of the most high-end car stereos available today. The install was pretty straight forward and the ATOTO manuals were pretty good. I made four mistakes when originally hooking it up.The price! The head unit was about 225€ compared to 350€+ for premium brands. This was the biggest reason for me to try a Chinese head unit in the first place. I inadvertently dislodged the magnetic valve solenoid electrical connector. This had the rather unpleasant effect of putting the transmission into limp mode if you leave it in park or neutral with the engine running for too long. I love it when I install a new head unit and in the process break the transmission. With built-in MirrorLink, you can use your smartphone to be fully cast to the ATOTO A6PF screen; you won’t have to miss a single beat – from your favorite podcast and YouTube channel playlist to chart-topping music streaming services.
