About this deal

Once the paint has dried, use a fine grade sandpaper and lightly sand down the areas where you want to see the base colour. Homebase offers a selection of furniture paint for wood, including chalk furniture paint in a range of colours.

For the best results, ensure surfaces to be painted are sound, clean, dry and free from dirt, dust or any other surface contaminants. Browse our extensive range of furniture paint today and revitalise those beloved pieces that make your house a home.

A new coat of paint on wooden furniture can leave it looking brand new or help it suit a certain style. It might look small but each sachet is enough to give you a 30cm by 30cm test area and a true representation of colour and adhesion at home. The paint can be used directly onto wood (bare or painted), brick, stone, plaster or any suitably primed rigid surface (metal, plastic etc). Also suitable for brick, stone, plaster or any suitably-primed rigid surface (such as metal or plastic).

No priming or sanding necessary on most surfaces (simply ensure surfaces are smooth, dry and free from contaminants). Simply brush onto the bare surface or over the old paint or varnish, then sand or scour with dry to achieve the distressed look.

Create a distressed look bt applying two coats in contrasting colours then sanding/scouring when dry. If you want to achieve a distressed finish on your piece of furniture, apply one coat of the base colour, and one coat of the top colour.

coat over the affected areas, leave to dry, and then sand again until the desired finish is achieved. No sanding or priming is necessary for most surfaces as this paint works well over existing paint and varnish, making it ideal for projects you want to complete quickly while providing a professional finish. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Give the paint a really good stir before application and then apply the paint in light coats with a brush or a roller depending on the item you’re painting.Ensure you take a step back every now and then to check that you are getting the best possible finish. If you want a solid finish, you will probably need two or three coats, but for a finish that you want to distress and sand back you will need fewer. Whether you want to use this as a block colour, or do two contrasting shandes and sand your top coat for a distressed look you will be amazed at how you can transform those old bits around your home.

This Chalk white matt furniture paint has been specially designed to give a durable and long-lasting chalky finish on a range of surfaces.Not necessary for most surfaces (simply ensure surfaces are smooth, dry and free from contaminants).
