Paint - We opted out of a paint set up to make clean up easier. If you want to include paint, be sure to include paint brushes and small paint palettes. Make sure you allow your cake to cool completely before you decorate it. You can even bake the cake the night before your dinosaur themed birthday party and cover it, then you can decorate it the next day. Carve a number three in the birthday cake I covered a table with the same green fabric as the photo booth and this is where I set items for the guests to take including the safari hats and the “pet dinosaur” boxes.
Connor was very into hunting for the dinosaurs and the clues. Our dinosaur treasure hunt went over better than I thought. Dinosaur Party Photo Booth Loose balloons. We also had a bunch of loose balloons floating around on the ground and hung to the front door outside. One of my favorite things about this party is the craft table set up that we made. It was a great way to keep the kids entertained for quite some time. We rented 2 large kid's tables and put them together along with white chiavari chairs. Here are all the supplies that we used to make this epic birthday party craft table: It was kind of a party fail because nobody could break it except Brent and even then it took him several times before he ended up hitting the head off it in a somewhat disturbing manner. Ha.I found this cool treasure box and it was cute to watch how excited Connor was to dig it up a real treasure chest and open it with the key. Connor’s one request for his party was a piñata. This baby dinosaur piñata was super cute but ridiculously hard to break open. Balloons - This year, we went with a luxe style balloon garland for the dessert table, and helium balloons in the party/craft room. The plates were strong and durable which I feel like is important since party guests usually walk around and hold their plates. Plus, the bamboo plates fit perfectly with the theme.
Three Rex balloon - I also added this gold foil cursive three rex balloon on the wall behind the dessert table.At the party we had a competition. We split into two teams and each person took their turn throwing the 5 steaks. We added up how many steaks each person on the team fed the t-rex to see what team won. I put a plastic dinosaur in each of these kraft boxes with windows and made a name tag based on all the guests’ name and birth month.
To make this easy dinosaur birthday cake, you can use your favorite chocolate cake mix or chocolate cake recipe. Making the cake in a glass pan makes it easier to decorate if you’re unsure of your frosting skills. Alternatively, you could make this into a dinosaur sheet cake by baking chocolate cake sheets and layering them. When my family does parties we show up dressed for parties. Ha. We always wear shirts or outfits to go with the theme. I designed the treasure hunt map and then printed it on a piece of paper that was dyed with tea like we did with the invitations. We played on the “adopt a dinosaur” basket I have seen at other dinosaur parties to be a game for finding your pet dinosaur.The desserts are also something that needs to be carefully planned. These items are basically extra decorations on your dessert table.
