About this deal

If anyone knows any other picture of the model F-91 W Japan U, it would be happy and public in this thread.

The upper left button, labeled "Light", turns on the light, cancels the alarm, resets the stopwatch or marks the split (lap) time, and is used for selecting settings. The numbers only tell half the story, though. Where the ’84’ really shrinks on the wrist compared to the ’91’ is the design and taper of the resin strap. While both have lugs widths of 18mm, the strap on the ’84’ tapers more dramatically and narrows to 13.6mm at the end. On the ’91’, the calipers return a reading of 15.8mm. Even if you don’t use the alarm or stopwatch, you’ll still make use of the main display that gives you everything you need. You have the time, day, and date all right there. Casio F84W watchMy wrists are about 6.3” around, and the F-84W is just the right size for me. If anything, it’s actually a little on the small side. Counterfeits [ edit ] Holding the right button for 3 seconds in the main timekeeping mode leads the display to show "CASIo", which is useful to spot a counterfeit model (applicable for newer models of the F-91W and its variants, including F-94W and A158W) Both watches have the Casio module 593 and all, I mean ALL, of the functions are the same. So you get a 1/100 stopwatch (max count at 59:59.99) with split time function, single daily alarm, hourly alert and a green LED for illumination.

The US government became suspicious of Afghanis who wore Casio watches due to their ability to be used as timers for improvised explosive devices, a tactic favored by al-Qaeda. [11] [12] Some sources say that the F-84W only has 30m of water resistance while others claim it’s waterproof. Personally, I’ve taken it swimming and had zero problems with it. What I LikeYeah, it’s true. The ’84’ made its debut in 1986 while the ’91’ was introduced in well… 1991. Although with that said, there are conflicting reports with PacParts stating that the Casio F-91W was born in 1989 instead. Whatever that year may be, the ’84’ is the OG between these two.

In the F-91 W manufactured in Japan like other models of the F series, such as the F-84w, does not work to apply the right button and see the word CAsio. Guantánamo files: How interrogators were told to spot al-Qaida and Taliban members". the Guardian. April 25, 2011 . Retrieved April 10, 2019.This association was highlighted in the Denbeaux study, and may have been used in some cases at Guantanamo Bay. [19] An article published in The Washington Post in 1996 reported that Abdul Hakim Murad, Wali Khan Amin Shah, and Ramzi Ahmed Yousef had developed techniques to use commonly available Casio digital watches to detonate time bombs. [20] Casio watches were mentioned almost 150 times in prisoner assessments from Guantanamo. [21] I wore both for the same amount of hours and trust me, while this may sound trivial, I found myself adjusting the ’84’ on my wrist more often than the ’91’. 6. Same, same but not the same (?)

The time or date is adjusted by pressing the lower left button three times to bring the watch to time adjustment mode. The top left button is used to cycle through seconds, hours, minutes, month, date, day and normal mode. The right button is used to adjust the flashing value displayed. Unlike any other value, the seconds can only be zeroed. Should this happen before 30 seconds, the watch will zero in at the beginning of the current minute. After 30 seconds it will start the next minute as displayed. When the adjustments are finished, the bottom left button can be pressed once to return the watch to normal mode.

More than a dozen detainees were cited for owning cheap digital watches, particularly "the infamous Casio watch of the type used by Al Qaeda members for bomb detonators."
